Iowa Prairie Seed Company has now evolved into a supplier of local ecotype prairie and wetland seed. On an average, we carry seeds for 120 vairieties of prairie wildflower and 20 varieties of prairie grasses. Many of our wildflower seeds are difficult to find elsewhere. A sea of purple coneflowers stretches on for as far as the eye can see in one of Daryl's prairies. |

Most of our seed is hand-picked from remnants of actual native prairie land in northern Iowa and from our own 40 acres of native prairie. With some of the seed we collected from these remnant prairies, we planted additional harvest sites on our own land and on leased prairie land. We will be happy to assist you with any aspect of your prairie planting, answer any questions you may have, and when possible do on-site consulting. We hope we can be your prairie seed supplier and reference site for making your prairie planting a successful experience. |

| Timely burning can be beneficial in helping to control weeds and stimulate your prairie planting. Burning is not recommended on mixed prairie plantings until the second spring after the establishment year. Prairies should be burned every 3 to 5 years to stimulate growth and eliminate excessive buildup of plant material. | ![]() |
