Blue Joint Grass is a perennial, sod-forming reed grass. The inflorescence is a many-branched panicle and varies from being narrow and contracted to wide and expanded.  The stems are erect and leafy.

It often grows in dense patches due to its strong, creeping rhizomes.

Season of Growth: Warm (mid-June - Sept)
Life Cycle: Perennial
Propagation:  

Blue Joint Grass grows in marshes and prairie swales or in open woods near lakes or streams.

Protective Cover: Good; strong enough to remain erect throughout winter
Food: Fair

FYI image Blue Joint Grass is a good forage grass before it reaches maturity.  It becomes tough and unpalatable to livestock once maturity is reached.
