 Smooth Blue Aster is one of the most attractive asters.

Its inch-wide flower heads have blue rays and yellow disks. Its leaves are alternate and oval with clasping bases. The foliage is smooth to the touch.  The stems are also smooth and unbranched below the inflorescence.

Smooth Blue Aster lasts as a cut flower, and the seed head is attractive in dried floral arrangements.
