Prairie Coreopsis Prairie Coreopsis is an attractive plant with large yellow flowers.  It forms patches as its rhizomes form new plants quite readily

It is a native of true prairie in the eastern part of the Great Plains.

Leaves of coreopsis palmata resemble the palm of a hand, hence the name palmata.
 
Prairie Coreopsis grows in dry to mesic prairie and requires full sun.

It grows well from seed and will bloom the second year.  Plants can also be divided and transplanted.
