Downy Gentian Downy Gentian is one of the latest blooming plants on the prairie.  Its brilliant, deep blue flowers are a real treat so see late in the year.

Unlike Bottle Gentian and Cream Gentian, the flowers of Downy Gentian open up; however, they do close toward evening or on cloudy days.

It is a beautiful plant in garden settings or in fresh or dried arrangements.

Downy Gentian grows in dry to mesic upland prairie and requires full sun.

It is easily propagated from seed
