Alum Root

Alum Root, a member of the saxifrage family, has a long leafless flowering stem with small greenish-white flowers at the top. 

The huge basal leaves are attractive in a garden setting.

Height: 2 - 3 ft
Color: Greenish white
Flowering Time: May - Jul
   

Companion Plants:
Shooting Star, Prairie Phlox, Columbine, White Wild Indigo

Alum Root grows in dry to wet prairie and requires full sun.

It can be propagated from seed or division of the roots.  It will bloom the second year after planting from seed
 

FYI image Native Americans used the roots of this plant to make a poultice used as an antiseptic.
