| Rough Blazingstar grows in dry to mesic prairie. It requires full
sun. The plant grows well from seed and will flower the second year. Old corms can be divided to create more plants. The plants needs competition to prevent lodging. |

The corms (roots) of the Rough Blazingstar store water and nutrients and once were dug and kept for winter meals. Tea was made from the leaves to treat stomach aches and snakebites. |
