Native to wet woods and low meadows and prairies, Cardinal Flower is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful flowers found anywhere. The blossoms are the most brilliant red. It is almost impossible to capture their true brilliance in photographs. The plant is usually single stemmed with many flowers alternately arranged along the stem. Many times the flowering portion of the stem will be 1 - 2 feet long.
