Evening Primros The flowers of the Evening Primrose open in the evening air and close the following morning.

Evening Primrose does well in newly established prairie plantings but decreases as more long-lived perennials take hold. The seed stay, however, and will germinate if the soil is disturbed.

Height: 2 - 6 ft
Color: Yellow
Flowering Time: Jun - Sept

Companion Plants:
Roundhead Bush Clover, Flowering Spurge, Bergamot

Evening Primrose grows in dry to mesic prairie and requires full sun.

It is easily propagated from seed and will bloom the second year.

FYI image The leaves of the Evening Primrose can be eaten as cooked greens.  The boiled roots of the plant taste like parsnips and supposedly increase a person's wine-drinking capacity.
