Common in northeast Iowa, Marsh or Swamp Wood Betony, also called Lousewort, is an upright and branched.

Its creamy white 2-lipped flowers crowd together on terminal spikes. Its leaves are mostly opposite, sessile, with scalloped lobes. 

Height: 2 - 3 ft
Color: Creamy white
Flowering Time: Aug - Sep
   

Companion Plants:
Great Blue Lobelia, Water Hemlock,

Marsh Betony grows on wet to moist prairies, marshes, and in wet, open woods and requires full to partial sun.

It is propagated from seed or division.

Marsh Betony or Lousewort was thought to keep animals free from lice, hence the name lousewort.
