Garden rudbeckies are descendants of wild plants native to North America. Black-eyed Susan is one of the easiest prairie
plants to grow, and in prairie plantings it is usually the first forb to
bloom. It is a biennial and commonly
found in prairie settings although never in abundance. |

to wet prairie and requires full sun. It is easily propagated from seed and oftentimes will bloom the first year. |

The leaves of the Black-eyed Susan were steeped and used by early Americans as a kidney stimulant. A yellow dye can also be made from this plant. |
