As
with many small plants that bloom early on prairies to take better
advantage of the sun, Blue-Eyed Grass blooms relatively early in the year.
It is especially attractive on prairies after a controlled burn when it is
more noticeable. The delicate flowers bloom only on sunny mornings and close when picked. The flowers produce small, pea-like seed heads that contain several small seeds. When not in bloom, Blue-Eyed Grass is commonly mistaken for a grass because of its grass-like leaves; it is, however, a member of the lily family. |
